The Lake

The boat is situated at the Salmlake in Steyregg. At the spot are two boatlakes connected to each other. They are equipped with one waterski and one wakeboardboat. Both lakes have specially designed banks, so there are no backwashes at all. Also strong wind doesnt affect the watersurface, it always stays flat or glassy, the conditions are perfect. The Salmlake heats up quickly and usually in middly of may it is already 25 degrees.

The Fetzysworld Wakeboard Base is located at the Lake 2 which is around 50 meters wide, 600 meters long and 3 meters deep. That gives space for 5-6 wake to wake jumps before the turn. At the start area there is a decent piece of lawn, where we made ourselves comfortable. We have some sunlounges, a pavillion, wood benches, BBQ, fridge, shower, radio, an Indoboard and hollywood bed for the lovebirds :-)

Lake 1 - MYCN Clubhouse

The Lake 1 is aprox 150 meter wide, 650 meter long and 8 meter deep. Equiped with an waterskiramp, slalomcourse, bleechers, a big clubhouse with a boatgarage, kitchen, lockers, changingrooms, etc... this lake is used by the MYCN (Motor Yardclub Nibelungen). If the lake is currently not used by the MYCN, we can also go over there.

The yearly lease for the Lake 2 is not small, specially for such a small company like Fetzysworld. For me the price and work which is involved with it, already pays off when I look at such an picture like down there:

Salmsee Steyregg See 2 - August 2008

The boat got purchased in may 2005 from the austrian correct craft distributor Ortner Boote in Villach. We gave the boat the beautifull name „Celeste“ because she is a real lady, but somtimes we ride her hard, but she can take it :-)

History

Before we got the opportunity in 2008 to ride on the Salmlake, we spent 3 summers riding at the danube. I can tell you, we had many good experiences and adventures on this river. If you compare the conditions to other rivers or lakes, the danube is really good for waterskiing. You are allowed to ride everywhere, there are no restricted areas like in all the german rivers. Most other lakes in austria it is almost impossible to get a licence, or there are already to many other boats and or its to windy.

Thats why I have to say: "Danube rocks" similary to the Fetzysworld Slogan from 2005: "Feel the lifestyle, ride the danube". I wanna thank you Mr. Jochen Russmann, he supported me in the first year as partner, driver and friend. Also a big thank you to Stefan Dorfner alias Do, he spent lot of time in the boat and was the men always there to help were ever he could.

In June 2008 the MYCN (Motor Yardclub Nibelungen) approached me.
They informed me that they dont use Lake 2 so much anymore but they still were paying the high lease. If they would stop the contract with the owner (Graf Salm), the lake would probably go back to the fisherman and will be lost for waterskiing forever.

The MYCN started over 10 years ago with building this Waterski Development Center and they did really good. Over the years they invested a few hundred thousend euros, to transform this one big lake into two perfectly sized, wave canceling boat lakes.
