Worldcup Copenhagen

Because of spontanias and bad comunicated shedule changes, the finals took place without me and I just took 5th place!
15-17. August 2008

It was on all posters in town, in the internet also the saturday TV news promoted the finals for sunday 15pm and not 12.30pm

After the qualification on saturday we left the cable at 19.30, no Party that night.  But silently the posted a new shedule for sunday, the Open Men Top 8 head to head final started now at 12.00 instead of 15.00. Not many riders recognized this changes, there was no meeting, no announcment. The event organizer Peter Bloch was also a bit upsat, because  the spectators showed up very late (like normally sheduled) and most of them didnt see much riding, because everything was finished so early. After that we waited ages for the Prizegiving.

I asked Shawn Perry from the WWA why he did the changes. To me he said that the riders will have more breaks between, which I didnt recognize at all. And to Peter he said that he was afraid that he couldnt stick to the shedule.

Anyway a shedule change is no problem, just communicate it more. In some case ring me, I was staying 15min away, or for what I write my phone nr. down at the registration.

O.K. first disappointment on the WWA side. But second disappointment on Emil Tzolov from Bulgaria. The guy where I thought most that he is a sportsman. The judges gave us the opportunity to repeat the head to head battle, this time he wouldnt ride against a ghost. Just if Emil would agree. But guess what, he didnt! Big, big charma minus, dear Emil!

Dispite of all this negative events, I can give Copenhagen and the crew a very positiv report. I love your chai latte and with the sunchairs and sand it feels like on an island. If you consider that you are in an industry harbour, they adjusted and constructed it very warm and chilled. The cable is just an year old, but the whole crew sticks together very strong and friendly. There helped a lot of volunteers, there guideline sentence is: "Everybody loves everybody" like good old Jackie Moon already said.

We had good catering the whole day and very special were the accomodations. Nobody had to sleep in hotel, everybody could stay at a private home from a local. We stayed at Ditte`s place, I meet Ditte and her sister christine at the Philippines this year. Ditte took realy good care to us, thanks again for everything.

The water at the cable is a bit shallow you can stand everywhere, but take care to the jellyfish, there are some around. Average watertemperature is 17 degrees. The Cable got an strong pull and has 5 corners. There are three nice sliders, the kickers are bit hard to get used. Very nice are the sunsets, I heard because of the smog...but dont know!

Copenhagen town is worth to see but a bit expensive. Statistically its the 7th most expensive citiy in the world, equal up with New York. As an example, for an coffee you pay around 5 €, breakfast downtown for two person up to 40 €, etc... Therefor people got bedder saleries, as an operator at the cable you make 2.500 € per month!
