Worldcup Toulouse

4th Place at the Winch Jam!
8.-10.May 2007

The first WWA Wakepark World Series Stopp took place at the so called PPA in Toulouse (France). Last year the competition was named European Boardstock, but the new organization didn’t had rights on the name, … whatever!

This time it was not so easy to defend my title from last year, because the huge pricemoney of 27.000 $ and the points for the overall tour tempt the best riders from the whole world.

It felt like on a little world championships. The USA already came with 10 persons and also riders from Australia.

40 riders got split in 8 heats with each 5 riders. It was pretty exciting how the mixed the groups because everybody picked his ticket out of a basket by himself and wrote his name on this big poster. Unluckily I didn’t made the first qualification, but there were also other top riders how didn’t went into the final. Like Lior Sofer, he was the man how showed this winter at the Philippines that he can do the most different and craziest tricks. Marc Schuster from USA rocket at the training with double s-bends to blind from the dock and a massive slimchance, but also didn’t made it in the final.

After the quarter- and semifinals the top 8 riders where competing in an exciting head to head modus. Bobo from Ausralia showed a few times a crowmobe 540 over the kicker and super stylo ts fs 720 off axis melon. And Tom from USA showed 900 over this small kicker in the middle of the run, where nobody did anything all days…

After I watched the impressive finals, it was my turn on the Orangina Winch Jam. I took it easy showed some presses and went for the 4th place.

I spent for nice days in France, I also enjoyed the trip on sunday to the crazy cabel in Albi, see report Cap Decouverte.
